Why God Made Moms

April 30, 2008 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Mommy Rambles, Just for Fun, About the Family 3 Comments →

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She’s the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We’re related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs an d YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goof ball.
2. Mom . You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power ’cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don’t do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I’d diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.
2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Achieving Inner Peace

April 23, 2008 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Mommy Rambles, Just for Fun, Freebies 2 Comments →

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives.

By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, ‘The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished.’

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn’t finished, and before the morning was over I finished off a bottle of Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream, a package of Oreo’s, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now.

Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace.

A Very Close friend of mine Cara From The Household Helper is raising money for a great cause.  Please read below to see what Cara has to say.

March of Dimes

The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money raised for March for Babies event will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.

A Cause Near and Dear To My Heart

My son Joey was born 12 weeks premature due to a placental abruption, a result of preeclampsia. He weighed just 2 pounds 9 ounces and was only 14 inches long (see picture in the left sidebar). While in the NICU, one of the nurses passed on some literature from The March of Dimes. From that day on, I knew I would champion this organization anyway I could.

Make A Donation - Win Some Goodies!

Joey and I are participating in The March for Babies this month (formerly known as Walk America). If you would like to sponsor us, just click on Joey’s picture in the left sidebar or click here to visit our fundraising page. Monday Motivation

WOW the weekend seemed to fly by, didn’t it?

As always, the 1st step I take in organizing my week is to carve  some time out to get cozy with my BlackBerry on Sunday evenings and review my entire week to be sure that nothing will slip thought the cracks.   I add things, move things around and at times, I will just pass them off to another person and delete them :).  Last night I also created a nice weekly Meal Plan with a few new recipes I found in my Cambell’s Soup recipe book.

On my list of things to accomplish this week are:

  1. Today - Connect with my awesome VA and be sure that we are on the same page this week. My VA keeps me on my toes and I love her for it :) .  I will be asking that she add content to a website, submit/distribute an article for me and also be on the lookout for potential guests to my Podcast.
  2. Have you seen the new look at Parenting My Teen? YAY!  I was asked to participate in the Flip That Moms Websiteprocess and they finished yesterday!  The experience was wonderful and I couldn’t be happier with the results.  I will be tweaking a few pages here and there and alerting my lists to the changes.
  3. Tuesday - I will be interviewing Vanessa Van Petten for a new Parenting my Teen show all about Proms.
  4. Tuesday - Hit the grocery store (I actually love grocery shopping)
  5. Wednesday - Add content to my Real Life Solutions site
  6. Thursday - Plug in some newsletters into my Autoresponder.
  7. Work to find an Affiliate Manager/VA to help me start a contest for my awesome affiliates at www.reallifeaffiliates.com<– This has been hard!  Have you noticed that this has been on my list for 3 weeks now?  Hey VA’s and Affiliate Managers… let yourself be known (hee hee)!

It looks like a lot but the way I have it spread out in my Blackberry, it is actually doable and if you notice I will get help from my VA.

So, what about you. What is your focus on this week?  Let me know how you normally plan out your list of things to do.

Cook Once, Eat Twice

April 05, 2008 By: Real Life Solutions Category: About the Family, Mommy Rambles, Working From Home, Freebies, Healthy Living, Organization 1 Comment →

One of my favorite ways to save time is to double up my meals. The basic idea is to cook something once and then make at least two meals out of it. The trick is to turn what you cook on day one into a different meal on day two so you’re not eating the same thing two days in a row.

Here are some of my favorite meal ideas for this.

Chicken Breast

Day One: Place chicken breasts in a baking dish and pour some Italian dressing over them and bake until done. Take out a few of the chicken breasts for tomorrow, then serve the rest with rice and veggies for dinner.

Day Two: The next day, grab the leftover baked chicken breast from the fridge and turn it into a chicken Caesar salad, or make chicken salad sandwiches.

Boiled Chicken
Day One: Boil a whole chicken in a large stockpot with celery, onion and carrots. Take the chicken out when it is completely done and remove all of the meat from the bones. Turn the stock into chicken and noodle soup or chicken and dumplings. Set some of the meat aside for tomorrow.

Day Two: The next day use the rest of the chicken meat to make chicken enchiladas, chicken salad, or add it to tomato sauce and serve it over rice or pasta.

Rice

Anytime I cook rice, I make extra for the next day. For example, day one is rice with steamed broccoli and tomato sauce. The next day I use leftover rice and turn it into fried rice. Start by sautéing some onion and garlic in a little butter. Add 2 cups of cooked rice and heat it in the onion mixture. Meanwhile scramble a few eggs and pour them into the rice mixture. Cook until the egg is done. For an Asian version, add soy sauce to this mixture.

Not only will these tips save you time, you’ll save money, as well!

If you are ready to learn more about making dinner easier and getting meals for your family on the table faster? The secret solution is meal planning. It is quite easy to do and you can learn more about it with the free meal planning basics guide at Menu Planning Central.

Grannyville here I come

I am staring to shop online for flights to Tally, FL!! image

Shayna (my oldest)  is now 32 weeks preggo!!!  I have just started the online search for flights out to her apt. in Florida (YAY).

I am excited as all get out but she is considered High Risk so she has been ordered as of today to stop all work and take it easy. She is on weekly Dr. Visits now with a u/s and blood work done at each visit. I am sure they are trying to track little mans lungs to see when it will be ok for her to deliver.

She isnt officially due until May 27th but I doubt she will make it. With her BP problems I think as soon as the babys lungs are developed - they will encourage her to be induced (but what do I know). Either way I am *thinking* that I will fly out to Florida around her 37th week (thats May 7th or so) and then wait it out until the baby arrives. I want to stay a FULL week after the baby is here.

This means I will have to be away from home for quite some time. I’ve NEVER been away from my 2 I’s (Isreal and Isaac) for a long period of time and I know Lance will have a hell of a time at the office and at home without me and with the baby coming RIGHT towards the end of the school year — that just adds to the Williams’ craziness.

Anyway -the control freak in me wishes I had exact dates to work with so that I can ultra-plan everything but I can’t do that so I am flying but the seat of my pants!!

Looks like I will be a Granny next month! image

Tackle It Tuesday!

April 01, 2008 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Mommy Rambles, About the Family, Goals, Organization, Uncategorized 1 Comment →

Tackle It Tuesday MemeI woke up feeling great and and I have a lot of things that I would like to get done today so posting my “Tackle It” list will serve as extra Motivation for me.

Here is what I’ve managed to tackle so far today:

  1. 1. I go up and out of the house on time (hey, that’s HUGE).
  2. Dropped Isreal off at her High School and scheduled an appointment to meet with her school counselor early next week.
  • Here is my Still need to Tackle list
    1. I am on a mission to add 2 articles a day to my Real Life Solutions site.  So that is #1 on my list.
    2. Call the Eye Doctor to find out the status on Isaac’s Glasses (they should have been her last week).
    3. Connect with my VA and pass along some tasks for completion in April.
    4. Work on the next Parenting My Teen Podcast. I think its time for “Coffee With Aurelia”. I am feeling the need to talk about college preparation.
    5. Start researching flights to FL so that I can be there when my Grandson is born (Only 7 weeks til’ his due date)
    6. Hit the Grocery store during lunch time - I find that Tuesdays are really great days for shopping - the stores are just about empty.

So, do you care to share what you have already tackled and/or still need to tackle today?
