Listening to music is another great way to relieve stress and certainly beats watching the garbage dished up on TV these days. It’s such a great way to relieve stress, so make it a part of your stress-busting weekend.

How about involving all of the family in your weekend of stress relief? A picnic is a great day out for all of the family. Zoos, theme parks, the beach, the lakes are places all of the family will enjoy but you don’t have to venture afar to enjoy a picnic. You could enjoy a picnic in the comfort of your garden, maybe even fire up the barbecue while you’re at it? Your picnic, your call, just make sure all the family are involved in preparing the food so they feel part of it.

Why not take full advantage of the free time the weekend brings by doing something new? You could visit a new town or village, a park, a museum, or even a new restaurant or a coffee shop. You could go watch some sport, or even take up a new sport or hobby. This will broaden your horizons and will keep life fresh and interesting as well as helping to relieve stress.

Why not spend a cosy night indoors with your lover and cook a special dinner? A great idea is to try different cuisines – be as exotic as you dare! This is time for indulging your relationship so leave the stressful stuff like work elsewhere. Make the effort to dress for dinner and have candles and relaxing music in the background to create a nice ambience. I know one couple who’ve done this at least once a month for more than 30 years and they say it’s one of the main reasons for their success. Take a timeout and spend a day or two completely away from the firing line. Go somewhere tranquil, somewhere you can take walks or cycle rides to take in the scenery and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the place. Stress - it’s something nearly everyone contends with on a daily basis. At times the stress is positive such as having a baby or trying to win a race. At other times it’s negative such as having too much to do and not enough time to do it. You can use some of these stress busters for busy people and see if they help you reduce the stress you’re feeling.

It’s important for people to learn to unwind and release some of the stress they feel. This can be done in a number of ways. You may not have a long weekend to help you relax, but you can learn to relax in shorter periods of time.

If you’re really tense and need to calm down quickly, take a few deep breaths. This is one of the easiest and quickest ways to reverse the effects of stress. Since you’re probably not using very much of your lung capacity while you’re tensed up, you’ll be surprised how much this action helps. Take a deep, long breath in through your nose. Take a book along with you and read that during your planned breaks. While it’s true you may not be able to read very much, the important thing is to take your mind away from the stressful things in your day.

Studies have shown that music does soothe the savage beast.  In fact, among other things, it lowers your blood pressure and, depending upon the music you’ve chosen, can bring back fond memories of a time long ago.

Imagine sitting in your office with a mound of paperwork on your desk, and you are just staring at it wondering where to begin. You put a CD into your player and the music erases all unpleasant and stressful thoughts from your mind, and you attack the pile of papers with a renewed purpose.

Perhaps you are a stay at home mom, and the kids are particularly unruly this day. Pop a CD into your unit; one that is lively and one of your favorites. “These kids are driving me crazy and no one is helping!” This or something similar has crossed many a mom’s lips. When things get to be too much, often the ones in mom’s direct path take the brunt of the frustration. The way a mom deals with stress can affect her kids.

Stress can be both good and bad. When we respond favorably in stressful situations, we learn to cope with the event and go on. A positive attitude keeps us looking for the bright side of the situation. No matter how long it lasts, it won’t last forever.

Distress is when stressful situations turn bad. Instead of directing our frustration in the direction of the problem or seeking someone to listen, we make our kids the target. Kids are visual people. They learn by watching us. If our attitude is negative they will pick up on it.

Kids sense changes in the climate of their home. This includes a change in a mother’s temperament. When mom gets angry, kids know it. If children are used to seeing their mom smiling and laughing, hearing her get angry or shouting can frighten them. They may run and hide.

Whenever mom is like that, kids will turn away. They may learn to shut down themselves if they think that something they say or do will cause mom to get this way. When stress causes a mom to lash out at her kids, they may believe that they are the cause of the anger.

Stress can lead to impatience. Moms can become impatient with their kids. If mom is going to be late for work, she may rush a child to finish their breakfast. Slow eating can lead to mom getting upset or the bowl being left on the table with food still in it. Kids learn to be impatient with others. Moms may notice this when they see their child playing with its siblings. The child will rush others or snatch toys away even if it makes the other children cry.

Moms who are stressed can stress out their children. But if they manage stress in positive ways, they will teach valuable lessons to their children. No matter what situation arises, the way that a mom acts towards her children is important. Children will always scream, holler and cry even when things are going well. Separating the stressful event from the behavior of the children gives them security that mom’s love and care doesn’t change at these times.

Stress affects kids. When mom is stressed and it shows in her behavior towards the kids, they learn to become guarded. Stress management is important to maintain a healthy relationship between mother and children.

In order for the house to stay organized, the whole family has to be involved. Aggressive Toddler Behavior – Taking Control Back

You are dealing with aggressive toddler behavior and it seems to be occurring more and more frequently. What can you do about aggressive toddler behavior to take control back?

Sometimes it seems that there is nothing you can do. What you need to do is step back from the situation and realize that you can do something about it.

A child is born with a certain nature. It is how you nurture your child through those toddler years that will shape them forever into their adult life. A child needs to feel secure, loved and happy and if they don’t get enough attention from you, they may start to display some aggressive toddler behavior.

What can you do to take control back?

Pay attention to your child. Much of aggressive toddler behavior is a cry for attention. You should set aside time from your busy schedule to read with your child or play with them. They crave your love and attention, give it to them!

Sometimes aggressive toddler behavior is modeled after your behavior. You may not realize it, but if you are a yeller and like to argue a lot with your spouse, you can bet that your toddler is picking up on that. Try to have “discussions” or if you really have to have a full on argument, don’t do it in front of your children.

Make sure your child is getting enough sleep. If your toddler is even a little bit tired, it can change their whole attitude. Sleep is very important for your child’s development. Not getting enough will definitely cause a lot of strife and aggressive behavior. Set a regular bedtime and stick with it.

Feed your child on a regular basis. Children do a lot of growing and they need constant nutrition. Snacks and regular meals are important.
Give your toddler choices. Even if it is a choice between two things that are pretty much the same, it is still a choice. They feel empowered and it helps them to feel more independent. This is important in your child’s development.

Make a real effort to communicate with your toddler. They are at the early stages of language development, but they MUST be heard. You need to decipher that baby babble and make sense of it.

Don’t wait until things are out of control, especially when siblings are involved. If there is a physical altercation, then you need to deal with it immediately and let your child know that this is not acceptable behavior. Explain to your child that hurting people is not okay and that you do not approve.

Sometimes it can seem like things have spun wildly out of control, but if you can pinpoint the causes and then deal with them, you will be well on your way to getting a handle on your toddler’s behavior. You need to be consistent as well as persistent and you will have a happier child on your hands in no time.
