Lower Your Water Bill – Try to take showers instead of baths. Also, be sure to turn off the water while you’re brushing your teeth.  When washing dishes, use a large bowl or fill the sink up with water instead of leaving the tap running.

Adolescent dating, self esteem, confidence & more…

February 12, 2007 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Teenagers, Stress Management, Self Esteem, Working From Home, Pamper Yourself, Freebies, Healthy Living, Children, Blogroll, Parenting, Organization, Goals, Uncategorized No Comments →

Hey there moms!! A new Parenting My Teen podcast aired this morning and I am in love with this particular show.

So many times we hear things that are very negative things about teens and the relationship they have with parents. Well, this week I got to speak with a self-esteem and character youth motivator! She speaks very candidly about issues such as teen self esteem, teen anxiety and what parents can do to help.
Isreal (my 15yo daughter is also on the show giving parents her tips on what do to when it comes to talking to your teens about dating. I love speaking with her because she really gives a fresh breath of air to many parents who may not be in tune with issues that their very own teens face.

I would love to get your comments about this show and you can stop on by and tune in by visiting http://www.parentingmyteen.com/ and clicking on the ‘Listen Now’ Button.

Learn to be your own best friend

February 12, 2007 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Teenagers, Stress Management, Self Esteem, Working From Home, Pamper Yourself, Freebies, Healthy Living, Children, Parenting, Organization, Goals, Uncategorized No Comments →

In a search for happiness, many people look for it in other people and not within ourselves. Many people feel that things like money, a better job, better relationships..etc will make them happy.  In reality, to find true contentment you must look inside yourself and learn to be your own best friend. That means you have to trust, love, and care for yourself just as you do the people you consider to be close to you.

Following are steps that you can incorporate into your life that will help you to feel more empowered and happy about yourself!

* Begin to lift yourself up, not put yourself down. If you don’t like something about yourself, work to change it. If you can’t change it, simply accept it. Don’t beat up on yourself with negative self-talk.  You’re not likely to change for the better when you fill yourself with negative thoughts.

* Give yourself positive rewards. When you do something that you are proud of give yourself a small reward. Try not to wait for others to praise you because you may grow resentful if the praise doesn’t come. Pat your own back, it is a great feeling that can stay with you for a long time.

* Forgive yourself. I doubt that you would keep scolding a child over and over for making a mistake so don’t do that to yourself.  Give yourself the gift of forgiveness when you make a mistake.  After that, work to figure out what lesson you can learn, and use it to make better choices the next time around.

* Enjoy your successes. Most people can remember all of the details of depressing, painful or even embarrassing events that happened many years ago. What if you did the same thing with all of your wins?  Try to remember all of the triumphs and accomplishments that you’ve made and keep that memory with you and think about it at least once a week.

4 Quick, FREE and easy ways to pamper yourself

February 11, 2007 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Stress Management, Self Esteem, Working From Home, Pamper Yourself, Freebies, Healthy Living, Children, Parenting, Organization, Goals, Uncategorized No Comments →

Life is so busy and we spend so much time tending to the needs of others and pampering others that we sometimes neglect to pamper ourselves.

Here are 5 easy and fun ways to pamper yourself and nurture your mind, body and spirit:

1 - Wake up before the others in the house do and flip through a magazine or simply sip on a hot cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a few uninterrupted moments before the day fully begins.

2 - Weather permitting, take a nice walk and just enjoy your surroundings. Take note of all the beauty that is surrounding you.

3 - Take short breaks during your day whether you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom or work outside of the home, try doing something for yourself periodically throughout the day. You can close your eyes and daydream, browse through the paper or simply have a short friendly chat with a friend.

4- Take a nice long warm bubble bath. Fill your mind and senses with a nice fragrance and just soak for as long as you can.

It is truly amazing at how pampering yourself will rejuvenate you!

Does your motivation need a kick in the pants?

February 03, 2007 By: Real Life Solutions Category: Teenagers, Stress Management, Self Esteem, Working From Home, Pamper Yourself, Freebies, Healthy Living, Children, Blogroll, Parenting, Organization, Goals, Uncategorized No Comments →

Personal motivation is what gets most people up out of bed each morning and off to tackle the day.

In order to develop personal motivation, you have to feel good about yourself. Self motivation is something that is inside of you and sometimes when you feel down it is hard to get motivated, particularly if you have experienced a failure. Laughter is the best medicine and when you learn to laugh at your mistakes, you are also learning the first rule of personal motivation - Don’t accept failure, keep going.
